A Run Down Memory Lane…

BRRRRRRRRR…. I laced up my shoes this morning and headed out the door to find a chilly gust of 52 degree air. Um, what is going on?? I thought it was like summer time now. I’m beginning to think I should have packed some warmer clothes for this trip! Uh-Oh!

High/Low’s for the next few days are:
today= 64/44
tues= 72/49
wed= 77/55
thurs=72/61

I started getting all the same issues as when I run in the winter: runny nose, cold hands, and that weird feeling in your lungs from having cold air in them. Such a change from sweating buckets/overheating that I experienced just 2 days ago! Anyways….

Today’s Run Stats:

  • Distance: 3.42 miles
  • Time: 33:00
  • Average Pace: 9:39 min/mile
  • Average Heart Rate: 169 bpm (Max 190!! darn hills)

My run was amazing though. If you’ve read my ABOUT section you know that I started running in 2007. I lived up here in NC with my mom for 3 months and this is the place where it all began. I forgot how hilly it is here, I’m not used to that anymore!

Honestly, how could you NOT want to run if you had this just down the road. When I first started, I seriously couldn’t even make it once around this lake (0.7 miles). Just goes to show that anyone who puts in some hard work can become a runner- granted it took months.

Once I got back, I raided my mom’s pantry and found this box of Kashi GoLEAN Oatmeal:

I haven’t tried this kind (I usually make my own using Publix Brand Quick Oats) but I love all the other Kashi products so I decided to whip this up. I was impressed by the nutrition facts and took the idea of putting strawberries in it right from the box’s cover. I also mashed up some almonds and added a packet of Truvia to make it a little sweeter. It was pretty good!!

The oatmeal pic is for you Taylor 😉

Well- I’m on my own today since sis is at school and mom is at work. I need to go find some trouble to get into or something.

  1. I would leave a comment here, but you probably already know what I’m thinking regarding this post! hhehehe 😉

  2. Nice pictures – I agree, it would be hard to keep from running when you have a nice place to go like that.

    How do you like the Forerunner 305? How long have you had it?

  3. Lee- I’m LOVING the Forerunner 305! I love numbers and gadget stuff though. 🙂 I have only had it for a week!!! go to http://meganerdruns.blogspot.com/2009/05/was-i-living-under-rock-or-something.html

  4. Hey! For the RW recipe, I think SAUCE would have made it better, but not a tomato based sauce, probably a light cream sauce.

    That running scenery looks really beautiful! Reminds me of our local greenway..Happy running, and cool blog! I’ll definitely be looking forward to more of your posts!

  5. Ohhh that’s cold! I know, I just came back home to Michigan from Arizona. I was expecting “Summer,” and thought I’d be wearing short sleeves and jeans… maybe shorts. Nope! I’ve been so cold, and wearing long sleeves and a jacket. It’s much different from the 100+ Arizona temps!

    What a great place to run! That scenery is gorgeous. Have a great Monday!

  6. I want to run there with you!!!

  7. I know I’ve had this Kashi brand of instant before, but I can’t remember how it is. I’ve been buying Quaker Instant (for those emergeny and to-go oatmeal fixes) because it’s usually cheaper, but do you think the Kashi is better?

    I need to get some more instant oats for our upcoming beach trip.

    Glad to hear you had a safe trip home and I do hope you enjoy!

    Take care and have a great week!

  8. Lauren- I don’t think Kashi is necessarily than regular oats… I usually go for the instant as well since It generally cheaper. The kashi brand didn’t taste the same as regular oatmeal either probably b/c of the ‘seven whole grains’ and you can’t cook it the same way either. 🙂 thanks for commenting!
