A Day at the Beach

Today was great day for catching some rays on the beach!

Meghann and Kelly picked me up after my mini-workout, and we headed to Cocoa Beach! It ended up being a gorgeous day. The water was clear and the sun was shining.

We packed our lunch for a beach picnic, and to save some money. I wasn’t ready when the girls picked me up so I sort of threw a whole bunch of randomness together to take with me.

I made a FlatOut wrap with hummus, spinach, provolone cheese, red pepper, and cucumber which I remembered to cut in half before leaving, so I could show you the insides…

Along with a banana to go with it. It’s a habit from back in my surfing days to bring bananas to the beach. The potassium prevents you from getting dehydrated sitting out in the salty ocean all day, so I crave them when I go to the beach now!

…and a dried apricot I stole from Kelly.

One walk down the beach, two coats of sunscreen, and three hours later only one thing was on our minds…. ICE CREAM!

We stopped at Tuttie Fruittie, a local ice cream shop:

I debated between strawberry-kiwi italian ice…

…chocolate hazelnut gelato…

…until I finally decided upon Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream. Even though I’m not a huge ICE CREAM fan (I prefer fro yo), I went with this choice because I’m pretty sure the other two had artificial stuff in them. YUCKY!

I ordered one scoop, which seemed to be the perfect amount to satisfy my craving.

I had a great time with these girls! One of the best perks about blogging is making new friends… speaking of which, Blogger Lunch tomorrow! I heard a few readers are going, let me know if you are one of them! 😀

Off to make some dinner! I have a great new recipe planned… hopefully it turns out!

Which do you prefer… Frozen yogurt, ice cream, gelato, Italian ice, sorbet???

Swimming and Apple Pie Oatmeal

I woke up just before 7:00 am to a perfectly beautiful and sunny morning. Perfect for a run! …. Oh, wait. I can’t. 😦

I’m not going to lie, hearing other runners say they are going out for 7 or 10 miles this morning (ahem… that would be Meghann and Kelly) makes me slightly jealous. I decided to do what I could and went for a quick swim!

For the first ten minutes at the gym I did a quick ab routine. I then met Debbie at the apartment pool (not a lap pool) and did some laps in there. I seriously was gasping for air after only two minutes. Swimming is definitely hard work if you aren’t used to it! I only made it ten minutes this morning. Something to improve upon!

Before I left, my stomach was growling like crazy. I put an end to that by having half of this chai tea Luna Bar.

It reminded me of Thanksgiving pumpkins for some reason, lol. I liked it!

Once I returned from my mini-workout, I had a nice bowl of Oatmeal. I’d like to call this, Apple Pie Oatmeal!

My Oatmeal contained:

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 chopped apple
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • sprinkle of cinnamon
  • drizzle of almond butter

MMMM! Apple pie heaven! 😀

I’m now off to the beach! It’s a beautiful day out there, so make the best of it!
