Happy New Year… School Year, That Is.

I could barely sleep last night and ended up waking up at 2 am, and then again at 4:50 am. I’ve been up for a while, actually sort of nervous to start school!

For me, I always feel like the first day of school marks the new year- NOT January 1. It’s a fresh start, and I always say that “I have straight A’s so far” on the first day. I also feel like it’s the perfect time to set some goals for myself. So here goes:

School Goals

  1. Finish Strong. No senioritis, or telling myself I don’t care. I MUST GRADUATE. I MUST PASS ALL CLASSES.
  2. Make Dean’s List (pipe dream)
  3. Pass the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (MUST DO THIS OR CAREER IS OVER BEFORE IT BEGINS) I will achieve this by faithfully studying the manual every day Mon-Fri.
  4. Actually go to class… harder than it sounds.

Personal Goals

  1. Set aside weekends to visit family. Not just Christmas and Thanksgiving. Also, call my Momma and Sister more.
  2. Spend quality time with Jason, and make sure he doesn’t start calling my Textbooks and calculator my “other boyfriends” as he did last semester.
  3. Be more responsible with my money. This means only buying what I need, and waiting for Christmas for stuff I want. LOL. I have no income other than scholarships.
  4. Do more things outside of my comfort zone!

Fitness Goals

  1. Run a Marathon. I have always said that at no other time in my life will I have this much “flexible time”. I want to do this.
  2. Continue Running. Enough said.
  3. Strength train. My goal is 2 times per week- even if it’s just push-ups.
  4. Push myself to the limit. I want to see what I’m capable of.

Hmmm…that seems good for now!

Ok, off to class… I took too long blogging and getting ready… I have to eat brekkie in the car!


  • 1 container Oikos vanilla yogurt
  • 1/2 cup Cinnamon Toast organic cereal?
  • 1/2 cup Kashi H2H

Oh! I did 30 minutes of arm strength training in the home office… but I don’t have time to list it all out. I promise I did it though! 😀

It is such a good thing to sit down and take a minute to list out your goals for the “New Year”. 🙂 I know I just texted you this but I really did just introduce myself to a room of 200 wide-eyed first class ever undergrads! My heart was pounding! But it felt so great to walk in and be the TA! 🙂 I hope your first day of class is going well!!
