Stressful Sunday

Today has been extremely stressful.

I have two tests tomorrow, two assignments due, and a lab report due. Luckily I finished the assignments and the lab report, but I haven’t even started studying, and it’s almost 9:00pm.

I’ve pretty much been at my desk working since I got home. I didn’t try to put this stuff off until the last minute, but between Saturday class, going to dinner, and the 12 miler, I am pooped and running out of time.

Mentally and physically I am beyond drained. I started crying multiple times today at dumb stuff, like not being able to figure out how to do something simple in AutoCad. I even told Jason I have no idea why I want to be in engineering school and started talking about dropping out or changing my major to basket weaving or something. Totally unlike me. Obviously, I am stressed out!

I seriously feel bad for venting!! Thanks for sticking around… I should be my normal happy self tomorrow when all this school junk is over.


To make this quick, here’s what today’s eats looked like:


1/2 Kashi pizza, spruced up with tomato and broccoli



Handful of almonds x 2 (unpictured)

Cup of strawberries and Kiwi:



Salmon with soy sauce and honey glaze, sesame seeds, and green onion:


I always forget how much I love Salmon!!

Also, a sweet potato with a bit of brown sugar:


Overcooked-and-almost-going-bad green beans! OOPS!


…let’s not forget the taste of Jason’s mac n’ cheese! (He doesn’t like sweet potatoes!)


Since we didn’t have time to go on our “mini-date” this weekend, Jason made brownies, and I made…umm… scoops of fro yo! 😀

How do you handle stress?

I usually have a good cry, hug Jason, and think positive thoughts, like “don’t give up!!!” 😀

  1. GOood luck tonight! you will get through it. I don’t handle stress well at all. I do the same as you. I usually have a few crying sessions, I call my parents and explain to them how I am not smart enough / nor do I want to to go to school anymore. I then re-coop and push through it and feel exhausted the next day.

    helpful tip : make a list in the morning of everything you need to accomplish even little stuff like eating lunch. Once you cross those things off it will feel so good to feel like you have accomplished something.


  2. I write lists, schedule “time out” time, and occasionally take it out on my poor husband!

  3. I’m also a crier and poor Carl has had to deal with my crying fits several times in the last few weeks and I have no doubt that there will be more coming as I get closer to the marathon.

  4. aww sorry you are so stressed right now senior year is tough for sure but i just kept reminding myself why i wanted to do this and that I had survived 3 years of university already and I could get through one last year

    I’m so sorry how stressed you are. I dealt with a TON of stress at school (which was unfortunate, because my original major was passion-driven, and all that stress/ too much exposure to the music world killed that passion for me). Ways I dealt with stress? Made sure I had time for the things I loved on most days. However, the days that I was gearing up for exams, presentations, and performances/ lessons/ comepeititons? Ummm let’s just say those weren’t my finest hours. 😉 Ross can totally attest to how much of a wreck I was at times. There was one night that he even found me in a parking lot at UCF next to the music building at like 1AM because I was just so freaked and had to get away from my flute that I just walked to the parking lot, sat on a curb and bawled.

    I think what you’re going through is totally normal – just remember it will all be over tomorrow night! (lol and if you ever need me to cover for you on the blog one night, send me your pics and I’ll totally be your sub LOL!)

  7. Exercise is my main form of stress relief. I’ve found you can get a decent amount of studying done on a stationary exercise bike. It also helps me to remember that people have done this before me and they got through and people after me will get through it- if they can do it, then I can, too!

  8. Hi – I’m new to your blog and just wanted to say I TOTALLY feel your pain! As a fellow student I get stressed out all the time. I usually try to handle the stress by doing deep breathing, taking a break and watching some mindless TV, having a bath or cuddling with my kitty!

    Good luck with all your studying – it will all be worth it in the end 🙂

  9. I stress out about school a lot but then I tell myself that I’m going to get everything done and by this time tomorrow, what I’m worrying about will be over. You’ll get everything done!

  10. These days I have been handling stress by making a plan. Usually my stress comes from feeling unprepared so I try to make lists, put together a schedule, call people to have others hold me accountable, and then shut off my brain while watching something mindless on tv. Good luck with the studying!

  11. de-lurking just to say … YOU CAN DO IT! my best friend is an engineer and he had some hellish stretches in both his undergrad and grad programs (okay, maybe more like a hellish 6 years, lol) … but he made it through. it’s hard, but it will be worth it in the end. and you seem so motivated and determined, which is awesome. I wish you the best of luck!!

  13. Awww girlie, I’m so sorry you’re uber stressed 😦 Times like this are difficult. I usually get really teary eyed at times too and just break out sobbing. Sometimes you just need a good cry! Is that Kashi pizza the Caribean one I saw you purchased? How was it? It sounds good, but not sure if it’s worth the mulah!

  14. Hang in there – I think all of us had a couple of those days while in school, so don’t feel bad for venting.
    Whenever I’m that stressed at work, I just try to concentrate on something good that will happen after I’m through with the project (like, take time to hit the sauna after a yoga class after working like crazy for 5 days).
    I always try to do it like Kate and schedule some me-time, but sometimes that just won’t work…

  15. I’m a crier too! Luckily I always feel better afterwards, and mildly ridiculous for getting so upset. Sometimes if it’s just too much to bare, I’ll have a nap. I always think that things will feel better if I just go to bed and wake up again, even if it’s only a 20 minute nap.

  16. Awww, sweet girl, I’m sorry you are feeling so stressed. I remember these awful feelings in college.

    Okay, best advice for…..try to lay out all of your priorites, write them down, and assess them. Really, sometimes just seeing everything on paper, makes it seem more manageable. Then, you can rank the order of what is most important and put the least important things last, that way, if times permits, you can get to them, but if not, just realize that you are taking care of the essentials first.
