No Expectations

Tomorrow is the big day! Well, just a 15k (9.3) race. Who am I kidding, that is awesome!

I have never raced this distance before, and I’m really excited! I honestly have NO idea how I will do, but no matter my speed, I’m automatically going to PR! I am thinking of pacing like I was in a half marathon, just finishing 4 miles early. 😀

I have no expectations for tomorrow other than to try my best and have fun! I put way too much pressure on myself during the Rock N’ Run 5k two weeks ago, and I didn’t enjoy that race as much as I normally would have. I finished and said, “meh, 24:23”… when honestly that is a great time for me! I think it’s important at this to remember why I am there, to have fun!!

My body was begging for extra sleep, so I stayed in bed until 8:00am. That might not sound late, but I am used to waking up at 5:00-6:00 every single day including weekends, so I greatly appreciated the extra rest!

I finally got up and moving and made some breakfast. Purple Peanut butter oats!

In the bowl:

  • 1/2 cup Oats
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vanilla soy milk (so good!)
  • 1 TBL peanut butter
  • thawed out berries

I love it when I mix it all up and it gets purple!

Lunch was a refried bean and cheese burrito:

side salad with spinach, tomato, green pepper, avocado

…and some black bean chips (x2) 😀

I’m trying to focus on including a little carbs/protein/fat in each meal. I think this does a good job!

Have you ever run a 15k? That distance seems so odd to me. I once ran an 8k… even weirder!

In Other News….

Jason’s camera battery died, so I guess I’ll be back to using my 4.0 mega pixel brick 6 year old junk camera until he finds the charger!!! Good-bye beautiful food photos… see you soon! ***cough, Jason find the battery!!, cough***

  1. Good luck on your race tomorrow!! Have a blast setting a PR 🙂 It’s not a traditional race distance but I think 9.3 is a good challenge yet not as lengthy/taxing as a half!

  2. Have fun tomorrow!! I’ve never run a 15k, but I did a 10 mile race this May. It was a really fun distance – enough to be a challenge, but not so long that you get those lead legs like at the end of a half!!

  3. Good Luck tomorrow! I have never run a 15k, I did run an 8k though. It is a weird distance!

  4. The second race I ran was a 15k.
    The Gate River Run …
I missed it this year but plan on running it again in 2010.
    Have fun!

  5. why do you use jason’s battery charger?! haha.
    love the purple oats 🙂

  6. I was supposed to run the 15K tomorrow but just didn’t start my training early enough so it is the 5K for me and then the 10K in celebration in November and a 15K sometimes next year as well as a 1/2 marathon!

You will DO GREAT!!! “Good Luck”

  7. Nice plate! 😉

  8. How’d the thawed berries compare to fresh? I’ve been dying for some blue oats, but I froze the last of my summer berries.

I’ve never run a 15K before. I just went right from 5K to half marathon.. Oops 🙂 I’m running my first 10K Oct. 11th – Race for the Taste – you should run it! Free picnic with samples from Food & Wine after the race! Have an awesome time tomorrow!!

  9. You’ll do great tomorrow! Do your best and don’t forget to enjoy yourself!

  10. have fun!! Those oats look supa fantastic!

  11. Good luck girl! I’ve never ran 15k so props! You’ll do awesome 🙂

  12. Good luck tomorrow morning!

I’ve never ran a race, for some reason, I am SO NERVOUS about running one. I have ran 10 miles on the treadmill, so you think I would be able to do a 15k! I need to get over my fear 😦

  13. Good luck tomorrow!! In XC, we’ll run 6Ks a lot.. which I think it weird because it’s only 1 K longer than a 5K. The guys run 8Ks a lot in cross country too! And our school this year hosted a 2.5K <– why couldn't they just pick a whole number!?

  14. Good luck tomorrow! I’m glad you’re letting yourself enjoy the racing experience!

  15. Good luck tomorrow girl! You’re gonna do great!

  16. I did a 15K once, it’s a REALLY fun distance. Not too short like a 10K where you want to go longer but not so long like a half where you feel totally wiped at the end!

    Have fun!!

  17. I ran a 15k this past summer…it is considered Illinois’ hardest 15k. It was great and also the first race I ever ran withough music. I like 15k’s a lot…it is distance, but not qute the half! Good luck; you’ll do great!!
