Medium Sis

My medium sis has arrived!!!

I call Brielle my “medium” sis because when I say “little sis” I’m usually referring to my OTHER sister, Lexie. If you have been reading my blog since summer, you might remember her as the talented little gymnast I babysat this summer!

Brielle is in town for three weeks! She’ll be spending part of the time with me, and part of the time with my dad. Our stepbrother is getting married this Saturday, so she came down for the wedding and is staying through Halloween.

This afternoon, I rearranged the furniture in the office to make room for the air mattress.

It’s a little squishy in here now!

I was even nice and cleaned up the bathroom and made some space in the spare closet for her.

All my running around made me SO HUNGRY! By 4:30 pm my stomach was growling like I hadn’t eaten all day, and my head was starting to ache. I decided to make a huge bowl of oats while I studied for tomorrow’s test.

I added PB and berries, hands down, my FAVORITE oatmeal combo! I can’t wait to make it for my sister to try!!!!

It was the best idea for an afternoon snack. EVER.

My family likes to go with cheap flights, which sometimes means driving far away to an airport in another city. I stopped at Chick-fil-a between class and picking her up to meet Jason for some grub.

My bowl of oatmeal held me pretty well, and all I wanted was soup. Ok, and like 4 fries I stole from Jason!

When I got to the airport, I had to wait. And wait. And wait. Bri’s flight was delayed 1.5 hours! Luckily, I had my books and was able to get some studying done.

It was freezing in the airport! But once we stepped outside, it was back to the oven. 😦

LIke my cheesy smile. I laugh at myself. Off to catch up with my “medium sis”!

Do you have siblings? Do they live near you, or far away?

I have Brielle (my 18 year old sister- same parents), Michael and Lexie (9 year old twins, our half siblings, same dad), and 3 older stepbrothers!

Avoiding My Flu Bug

I’m sorry I have been MIA all day!

Jason has been feeling worse today, so we made a trip to the doctor, and after patiently waiting, got him a Rx for some flu medication. His temperature was skyrocketing (got up to 104*F !!!) and we knew it couldn’t wait any longer!

I have a ridiculous amount of greens in this apartment, and with this bug going around, I figured what better thing to start my day off with than a Green Monster!

I seriously PACKED the greens in there.

My green monster contained:

  • banana
  • ice
  • 1/2 cup vanilla soy milk
  • 1/2 TBL Peanut butter
  • 2 cups of Kale
  • 2 cups of spinach

I drank that at about 7:00 am, and my class gets out at 10:30am so I packed a bar to hold me over.

When I got home around 11:00, Jason told me that he was feeling worse and needed to go to the Doctor’s very soon. I made a quick grilled cheese sandwich with mushrooms and more spinach, plus grilled asparagus and headed out the door.

I packed a couple snacks to take with me to the Doctor’s since I had no idea how long we would be there. First up, a honeycrisp apple.

Then, some pita chips, which I forgot to photograph.

I’m doing everything I can to avoid catching the flu myself! I’m

  • washing my hands
  • trying to eat healthy
  • drinking plenty of water
  • not kissing Jason

I’m not sure what else there is to do, short of staying away from my bug Jason and/or getting a flu shot!

**UPDATE!** Jason’s temp is only 99.1 after taking both motrin and tylenol, hooray!

Have you had the flu? I haven’t had it since middle school! (Knocking on wood RIGHT NOW!!)
