Love Your Body Day (A Day Late)

Good morning! I can’t believe it’s Thursday already.

This morning on my run I was really appreciating my body. I rarely think bad thoughts about it, but I also never think about how much it can do! I had just read Taylor’s Letter to her body and I felt like I could have written it to myself!

It really made me think.

Loving your body isn’t just about loving what you physically look like. It’s about appreciating your senses, like smelling fresh baked cookies, or being able to see the sunrise. It’s about being thankful for the ability to smile, laugh, cry, and love. It’s about loving your legs for carrying you through a marathon, or loving your hips for carrying a child.

We only have one body in this life, it’s important to take care of it and love it!

I know that I’m a day late, since yesterday was Love your body day.

What do you love about your body?

For me, loving my body also means appreciating my brain. I doubt my mental capabilities more than anything else in my life. Especially with the FE exam on Saturday, I need to be confident in my abilities. I need to remind myself that I can do it!

Breakfast

After my 3.0 mile easy run, I heated up some leftover pumpkin pancakes.

This batch made a TON, so I froze the extras for quick weekday breakfasts.

Warmed in the microwave, topped with syrup and a banana. Yum!

  3. One of the most challenging things I find about being a engineer is doubting my abilities also. I definitely lack in the confidence department when it comes to school/work. Thanks for the reminder that loving your body also involves loving your brain. This semester is rough for me and I really needed that. Good luck with the exam, you are capable!

  4. be confident in your abilities and that you can do it, because I am so confident that you can do it! Just like I have to remind myself that my education, qualifications, etc. are enough as they are today as I am seeking employment, you should remind yourself that your brain is awesome, on fire, full of engineering knowledge and enough as it is today! I often believe that if we think positive thoughts and believe in ourselves, those thoughts will come to fruition. Positive thinking rocks!

  6. i love this! i was a day late with my post too. 🙂 but i agree that loving our bodies is about so, so much more than what’s on the outside. you’ve got a beautiful perspective on it!

    good luck with your exam – you can do it! believing in yourself is half the battle.

  7. Do not doubt your engineering capabilities!! You will rock this ish out of the FE. And if you don’t you can take it again (erm, well up here in MA you can) and it won’t be the end of the world. Confidence is key sister.

  11. This is fantastic! I love to read about woman actively taking steps to ensure they feel happy and confident in themselves. It seriously lifts my mood and makes me feel happy for the rest of the day 🙂

    I credit healthy living blogs 100% for my high self-esteem and levels of body confidence. Before I started reading food blogs I felt terrible about myself, but after so much positivity and reinforcement of loving your body the way it is, I feel so good about myself!

    So thankyou for helping me in that way 🙂

    I love my legs, they are strong, muscular and carry me through my runs. I have both legs in tact and they have never let me down. They are curvaceous and womanly and in proportion to the rest of my body.

    I love my body SHAPE because its very curvy so I look like a real woman! 😀 I have an iddy biddy waist with round hips and I love having a healthy, curvy figure 🙂

  14. I also ALWAYS doubt my mental capabilities! I’m horrible to myself. What’s more frustrating is that my grades are fine and I always end up doing well, so why can’t I accept that? Will we ever learn?? You are a smart girl!! You will do great on your FE exam this weekend! Great post and great idea with freezing the pancakes!
