Forced Eating Schedule

I feel like lately my eating schedule has been well… all over the place!

I got hungry for lunch at 11:00 am. I decided to make something that would take a bit of time so I would be forced to wait until a more normal (for me) lunch hour. I had half a block of leftover tofu to use up, and a bell pepper on its last leg.

I created: Tofu stuffed bell pepper!


  • Half a block of tofu (only used half of what I cooked)
  • steamed spinach
  • cheddar cheese
  • leftover israeli couscous
  • red bell pepper

I cooked the tofu, mixed with the other ingredients, stuffed it all in the pepper, and baked for 20 minutes.

Only about half of the mixture fit inside the pepper, so I ate the rest of it while the pepper baked.




Snack #1: Two homemade cookies


Snack #2: 1.5 honey crisp apples (there was a random half in my fridge I wanted to use up)


On the way out the door, I had part one of dinner, which Jason photographed for me. HEHE…


I had a container of Vanilla Oikos, 1/2 cup Kashi H2H, pom arils, and blueberries. YUM!! It held me for about four hours, until dinner part two:


I got home from class at around 9:30 pm.Luckily, I planned ahead and thawed out some butternut squash soup.


I didn’t think that sounded filling enough, so I heated up the leftover tofu to go along with it. (I ate half a block of tofu in one day…)


It was really filling!!



I don’t really like having to split my meals up like this for a few reasons:

1. I don’t feel like eating something large at 4:30 pm when I leave.

2. I feel like I eat way more because I get home and I’m STARVING!


No matter what I try, I seem to always leave for class feeling stuffed, and get home starving.


My Ideal Eating Schedule would be:

5am (or before my runs)- Snack

8am (after run or when I wake up) Breakfast

11am: Snack

1 pm: Lunch

4pm: Snack (or more snacks if needed)

7pm: Dinner


However, life is not ideal. I eat when I have time!! Right now my schedule forces me to eat a LARGE snack to hold me over at around 4:30 pm, and then I can eat again at 10-11pm.



Do you tend to eat whenever you feel like it, or does your job/schedule force you to eat at random times?

  3. I thought your “perfect eating schedule” was fun.

    Mine is

    6:30am snack (pre run)
    8:00am breakfast
    10:30 snack
    12:30 lunch
    3:00 snack
    4:30 snack
    7:00 dinner
    9:00 dessert

    I am getting very tired of eating meals on the go cold at school. I just don’t feel like putting together something worth eating right after I eat lunch and I swear if I had use of a microwave that would help so much!

  4. I wish I could eat whenever I feel like it but with my school, job, internship schedule it is always crazy.

    On Tues and Thurs I eat breakfast at 700 am
    Mon & Wed – 9:00 am because I spin from 730 to 830

    I then usually have lunch anywhere from 12-2 haha and then dinner is between 6-9.

    When I work dinner is around 10 or 11
    I know I sound like a grandma but I can’t wait to be on a set schedule for awhile

  5. Ugh, I hate it when life gets in the way of my preferred eating schedule! I wish I could eat whenever I get hungry, but class prevents me from doing so!

  6. I hate having to eat when I am not ready because of a schedule. My perfect schedule would look really similar to yours, but probably minus the 5 a.m. snack.

  7. I eat more or less at the same times everyday, I just feel better that way. However when I’m working (because I am a freelance photographer I don’t really have schedules or a 9 to 5 job!) I just eat whenever I can. 😐

  9. I eat at the same times everyday due to my job. I work in a hospital so I don’t have a lot of time to stop and eat snacks and lunch. Any suggestions on things to eat quickly? (I’m getting so sick of bars for my snacks! I
    m looking for other quickie bites to eat)

  10. I have this exact problem! I often have rehearsals (I’m a musician) from 7-10. I usually have to leave my house around 5:45 or so to get there early and warm up which exactly corresponds with dinner time. Plus I don’t usually have time to eat before then even if I wanted to. I often am starving at 10:45 when I get home, but I don’t think it’s great to eat so late.
    If I have to split dinner into parts like that I don’t feel nearly as satisfied. I often end up snacking more than I would like…

  11. I am a grazer, so I don’t have a perfect eating schedule. I do try to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but sometimes I just want to snack instead of eating a whole meal, so I try to make my snacks as wholesome as is possible.

  12. My job pretty much allows me to eat whenever. I just have to make sure to pack my snacks – or else it gets dangerous up in this office!

  13. I heart tofu and ate a half a block yesterday oops! I am grazer but I typically eat dinner at 4ish maybe a little later. I’m an early eater. My stomach stays on its schedule and gets evil when I disrupt it.

  15. My job as a school leader makes it so small meals throughout my day are the best bet for me. They last me longer and I find myself thinking about food less. I eat breakfast at 8ish, meal #2 at 10:30 or 11:00, #3 at 1:30 or 2, and meal #4 at 6ish with my family. I’ve been doing this for a couple of weeks and am always satisfied.

  16. I really like to eat at the same times each day, my body is just used to it! Everyone at work laughs because at 9am I am always there with my bowl of cereal 🙂

  18. My graduate program is only available at night so I am forced to eat around my class schedule as well. I only have 15 minutes between classes so I have to practically shove dinner down my throat — I hate it!

  19. My job and school definitely plays a part in when I eat. My tuesday/thursday class is from 12:30 – 1:45 but it takes 30 minutes to get there so I usually have to get something that I can eat either on the way or during class which means something small and snack like usually. Monday nights I have a 5:30 class at the same campus so I have to alter my eating to fit that as well. Wednesdays and fridays I usually have work at 5:30 so I’ll eat something small before I go to work and then usually have a cup of soup or something at work and then Saturdays and Sundays I go in at 3 so I eat a late lunch and then I have to eat dinner at work or not at all really and I don’t bring food with me so it ends up usually being something somewhat unhealthy (if I even have time to eat).

    Your lunch is making me really want to like peppers!

  20. i’m a waitress, so my eating schedule is incredibly messed up! Like yesterday i worked from 11am to 3pm, and then from 6pm until 1am. even if i eat before work, a few hours later, its hard to resist temptations like “here, we made extra empanadas!” or “you can eat this last piece of cake b/c its too ugly to serve..”, so i end up snacking a lot, and not eating the meals i want to…

  21. I usually eat on my desired schedule, unless I’m workingy part time job- then I feel totally off my game and try to fit dinner in between costumers and such.

    Also- I have ORDERED dishes with tofu a few times and have enjoyed them, but I’ve yet to take the leap to purchase it and prepare myself- any suggestions/tips for me??

  22. I have had a hard time with my schedule this semester. I can’t really eat at school cause nothing satisfying is possible to make outside of my house and without packing a lot of extras. I usually eat breakfast around 6:45-7 and then school starts at 8:30 and I don’t eat lunch until 11. My body is screaming at me to eat by 10:30. Obviously, some breakfast foods keep me fuller longer, but still..nothing holds me until 11. It stinks!

  23. I hate eating meals on the go! It’s funny you mention your ideal schedule because I typically do that EXACT schedule.

    If I run in the AM I eat a little snack. My breakfast is usually a bit early because I have to get out the door to work, but its around 6:30-7. But the rest is identical!!

    I hope your toe gets better soon so you can get back into running!!!
