30 Days to a Stronger Core

Happy Saturday morning!

Unfortunately, I did not get to take pictures of Caitlin’s half marathon today. I will let you read more about that on her blog later.

I slept in a bit this morning, and it felt GREAT! I didn’t even need coffee this morning. Although, I might go back for some soon, just because I love it.

Breakfast:

Quaker Squares have been on my brain for a week or so! This little brown sugar pieces of heaven somehow made it to my grocery cart last night, and I was DYING to dig in. As in.. I almost ate them for dinner last night instead of pizza!

I had 1.5 servings of the cereal, milk, and blueberries. YUM!

I have a day FULL of school stuff to get done. It helps to start my morning off with a great breakfast, a quick little workout.

Whittle My Middle

Angela over at Oh She Glows has a month long challenge to strengthen your core! I’m a couple days late jumping into the official “Whittle My Middle” challenge, but it’s better late than never!

The goal of this challenge is to do 6 – 10 minutes of abdominal exercises 5 days a week for a month. This is in addition to your regular cardio and healthy eating habits.

Running has consumed pretty much all of my exercising time, and I have recently realized I need to be doing more. I feel like this is a perfect time to develop a new habit!

My personal goal for this challenge is to basically just get into a routine of working my core. I’m very sporadic with strength training, especially my abs! I’m not really concerned with how my abs look, because honestly nobody ever sees them. I know that as a runner, the core is pretty important, and in my case, overlooked!

Measurements: (Taken 11/13/2009)

Waist: 27.5”

Belly Button: 31”

Hips (fullest part) : 35.5”

Yes, I feel extremely awkward posting these pictures. I feel nekkid- I’m usually really modest…

**Disclaimer: I am posting these measurements and pictures ONLY to have something to compare my before self to my after self.

Is anyone else participating in Angela’s challenge?

  6. I wasn’t going to, since I was a few days late. But I think I might start today. 🙂 Along with the POTM Challenge, it’s just another way to make sure we are getting in enough fitness during the holidays. I need all the motivation I can get sometimes. Good luck on the school work!

  9. Has my breakfast laziness and the appearance of Quaker Oat Squares several times over the past week influenced your craving and purchase? 😉 That stuff is CRACK. Quaker should pay me, I advertise the crack all the time lol.

  11. Uh oh…what happened to Caitlin? I hope she is ok. She hasn’t posted yet this morning! I’m worried!

  12. If the blog thing doesn’t work out you can always have a job as a bathing suite model!!

  13. you really are smokin in the bathing suit! No need to be modest when you have a killer bod. 🙂

  16. #1 Quaker Squares are AMAZING! I could eat bowls and bowls of them!!!
#2 I am going to do the Whittle My Middle challenge — I need it for two reasons: core strength helps keep me injury free when running and I’m going to be travelling so much over the next month that I think this challenge will be a good motivator and reminder to at least get some strengthening in!
#3 I used your pumpkin scone recipe — it was great! Thanks!!! : )

  17. I’m doing the Whittle My Middle challenge as well, and it’s KILLING me right now, but obviously in a good way 🙂

  18. That’s one of my fav cereals! It’s a good idea to take before and after pics, never thought of that! Hmmm, mind if I copy lol…of course I’d give you credit!

I do abs about 4 times a week, but I wonder if I increase if I’d see results faster?? I’d feel nekkid too hehe 🙂 For the sake of health though, haha! Enjoy your day!!

  19. Love Quaker Oat Squares! Probably my favorite cereal!! I’m starting the Whiddle you Middle Challenge on Monday! I did the exercises to test them out on Thursday and I am still sore today! Haha, excited to start Monday!

  20. I considered, but due to injury abs are hard for me to do. You looks amazing already.

I have never tried that cereal, I may have to except I have a serious cereal addiction and may not be able to stop once I start!

  21. I will take the challenge with you but I am going to start late as well! I never focus on my abs and I prob should.
