Layers and Dr. Pepper

This evening was spent packing for New Jersey!

I talked to BFF Debbie about what to pack, and she suggested packing layers.

What are layers exactly??

In Florida… “layering” your clothing means a cover up over your bathing suit:

So… do I simply throw on my coat and scarf over regular clothes?

Winter clothing seems so mysterious….

My winter wardrobe is old. Think: Circa 1999.

I did manage to scrounge up a few things, but I’m planning on raiding Deb’s closet once I get there!

Eats and Such…

During class, I snacked on the other 3/4 of my CLIF bar leftover from this morning.

Jason worked late, so we met for dinner at Chipotle. 😀

I got the vegetarian salad, which by the way is amaaazing!!

…my salad included:

  • romaine lettuce
  • tomato salsa
  • fajita veggies (peppers and onions)
  • tomato salsa
  • black beans (like… 3 servings)
  • cheese
  • guacamole

I also ate about 1/4 of Jason’s chips. They were slightly lime tasting, which made them even more addicting!

Not so healthy…

Oh yes, I also drank a bottle of Dr. Pepper this afternoon to stay awake in class. Not diet, the real stuff. I hate diet soda!! SO bad for you, and tastes like barf.

I drank all 250 calories of it, and it was worth it! YUM… (

It was cheap, convenient, and delicious. I actually LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Pepper. While I know that it is not at all healthy, I think of it as a treat, as I would dessert. It’s been YEARS since I’ve had soda, and I do not feel bad about it in the slightest.

I shall call it my reward for taking 12 days of running, and coming back with a bang. 😀

I really should get to bed, I have to be up in 5.5 hours to get to my flight!! YIKES! I

  1. Everything at Chipotle is amazing! Dressing for warmth is hard, I hate the cold here. I am so jealous you get to live in warmth all year long.

  2. That salad (and chips!) look amazing.

I’m impressed you haven’t had a pop in years. wow!

  3. i LOVE dr pepper! you go girl

  4. I saw on Twitter people were organizing their winter wardrobes. My first thought was, huh? I have no idea! I just put a jacket over my normal clothes (like you) and wear flip flops less 🙂

  5. yeah… in AZ layering consists of wearing a spaghetti strap under a tank top, short and flip flops, so I feel your pain! haha. Have a safe trip!

  6. i liked this post a lot because you are so healthy & it is great to see you indulge in some other not so healthy things 🙂 you are a huge inspriation!! have a great trip.. jealous of you living in florida, here in wisconsin it’s pretty cold hahah

  7. Have fun on your trip! AND stay warm! 🙂

  8. I know I’m a weirdo, but I actually enjoy the taste of diet drinks over the taste of the real thing for some reason! My fav is diet dr pepper, I have probably two a week 😀 If there was a drink I would splurge on, it’d be beer haha..You deserve it! Have a fun trip in N.J.!

  9. Yep, it’s going to be quite a temp change for you, but don’t worry, it’s not too bitterly cold up here yet. 😉

I had Chipolte for dinner last night too! Ohhh, those veggie burritos are HEAVAN! And you are totally right, I detected a hint of lime in the chips too. Sooo delicious! 😉

Have a wonderful and safe trip. I bet you are thrilled to see your BFF again!

  10. I hate diet soda too, I would rather drink my own urine then drink diet soda.

Am I the only one who doesn’t like Chipolte? There just isn’t anything speical about it to me.

And I get you with the winter wardrobe too, I run into the same thing when I go skiing each year. We only go once a year and its not worth it to buy new stuff every year so I have been sking in the same gear for like 10 years. Well except last year. Last year I wore my LITTLE bro’s hand me downs.

  11. Lol love the pictures of you “layering” 😉

I heart Dr Pepper. And Root Beer! Those were my two favorite sodas when I was little. I hardly have soda anymore, but if I do, it’ll be those. And you’re so right about the diet soda. Lame!

  12. Ha, I love the pictures of you trying to figure out layers. Luckily, it isn’t too winter-y outside yet!

  13. MMMM. That Chipolte salad looks SO good!

  14. I have a huge thing for Diet Sprite (I think they renamed it? but whatever!) and Sierra Mist types of pop. I used to love Diet Coke but it just makes me feel sick when I drink it now. Surprisingly I have never had Chipolte. As far as layering goes, I am a professional. I’ve spent the last 12 years living in Ohio so I have it down good. The key to layering is you start with the smallest lightest thing and continue to layer with things that are slightly bigger and thicker. So for example a tank top on bottom, t-shirt over that, long sleeve shirt/button up/hoodie/zip-up over that (sometimes it’s cold enough to wear a long sleeve shirt AND a hoodie), and then coat. Most days I wear at least 3 layers from November – March. It’s better to be TOO warm because then you can just take off a layer.

  15. haha i love how people in florida like you don’t have to deal with winter and all the layers and winter clothes!
