Cheater, Cheater, Pumpkin Eater

There are two more days until I can “officially” run. I was supposed to take two weeks completely off after my toe surgery.

It’s been 12 full days… and well…

I just couldn’t take it anymore! I cheated. I ran. It rocked.

That’s right, I ran!!!!!!! It was GLORIOUS!!

After the rough night I had , a run with a friend [Caitlin] was just what I needed to start the day off with a bang. 😀

We ran 4.0 miles in 39 minutes! I know that it’s not all that fast, but I was just thrilled to be running again. I was so unsure how it would feel to run again, or how my toes would hold up.

My legs felt fresh, my head was in the game, and I was ready to run!

It felt really awkward at first on my toes. I haven’t been putting much pressure on them, so it felt a odd to do so. They are looking pretty good, and I have my follow up appointment this afternoon. I hope the doctor agrees!

After I posted last night, Jason informed me I received a package in the mail. What? I got mail? Megan and Felicia from Bites of the Apple, were very generous in sending me a care package!

I felt like a little kid on Christmas morning!!

It was so nice of these girls to send me stuff! Megan is training for the Disney Marathon as well, and I can’t wait to meet her! Felicia is training for her first race EVER, a half marathon in February!! Good stuff!

Thanks again, ladies! You made my night! 😉

The package had all kinds of delicious Trader Joe’s goodies

…and marathon training supplies!!!

Plus, Megan’s signature, Silly Putty! Which JasoNerd thought was for him… this picture makes me laugh… a lot.

He’s clearly 5 years old.

Before I left for my run with Caitlin, I had a Kashi waffle with Pumpkin butter for a snack.

…and when I returned, I had a cup of vanilla Oikos with Trader Joe’s Pumpkin spice granola.

Heaven in a mug.

I’m definitely noticing a pumpkin theme today…

I have big plans to organize this afternoon, and get a game plan for the next few weeks.

Have a great day!

Thank you all so much for being so supportive and understanding about my decision to cut back on blogging ! I think that doing so will relieve a bit of stress, especially during the middle of the day posts.

I get on a momentum with school work, and honestly, stopping to blog kills it. It is REALLY hard for me to re-focus once I get off track! Recognizing this was the first step!

I am going to try blogging twice a day, morning and night. It seems that most people like the daily eats, even if they are repetitive, along with recipes, running, and race recaps. Basically, what I was doing worked, but it was too often for my busy schedule.

With the marathon training now in full swing, I think having this blog as my training and fueling log are very useful tools for me! I will continue to blog these things, but I also want to add more topic-related stuff, like I did with my flax seed fun facts, my Skinny Bitch review, exercise demos, and recipes!

I feel like I haven’t blogged in forever!!

Upon waking up, I had half a White chocolate macadamia nut CLIF bar. Me likey this flavor!! 😀

I started my morning off meeting my lovely ladies for a 6 mile run! In order to fit this craziness in, we have to meet at 5:45 am. It’s barely light out by mile 4.0!!

We finished in 1 hour exactly! 😀

When I got back, I made a delicious and messy yogurt bowl.

The goods:

  • Warmed peach
  • plain yogurt
  • Kashi H2H
  • raspberries
  • flax

SOOOOO GOOD!! Here’s how to make the micro-waved peach breakfast!!

I am feeling 110% better! JasoNerd, however, has been home sick for two days. My bug is sick!!!

(oh wow, I totally just used my pet name for Jason in a public forum. As if me peeing my pants wasn’t embarrassing enough!?)

LOL… I seriously have no shame.

Happy Friday!

New Approach to Blogging?

For the past couple of weeks or so, I have been feeling a little stressed about the blog.

Honestly, I don’t have a ton of spare time between marathon training, studying for the FE, and taking 17 credit hours worth of engineering classes. When I get home from my classes at 9:30 or 10 at night, its almost an obligation to blog. It’s becoming stressful and not quite as fun!!! 😦

I really love blogging, the friends I have made through it, and all that I have learned from you guys! But… I have been considering changing my blogging schedule to fit my needs. I really don’t know how I plan to approach it.

From the beginning, I have taken a 3 times daily (unless I’m out of the apartment or not at the computer) approach to blogging. I use this blog as a training log, a food journal, recipe keeper, general journal, and a means of conversing with other people with similar interests.

When I sit down to write my posts, I have no idea who I’m talking to, or what you are interested in reading about. Do people want to know every single thing I eat every day, even if it’s repetitive? Would it be better to only post the “highlights” of my daily eats such as a new restaurant or recipe? How about topic based posts?

I have a few questions to ask you! I urge you to comment, even if it’s anonymous, or if you have never commented before!

1. Why do you read my blog? What keeps you coming back?

2. What type of posts do you like the most? Race recaps? Daily eating? New recipes? Running topics?

3. What are your general thoughts/suggestions to improve my blog? What are your favorite/least fav things about it? 😀

Thank you so so so much for reading my blog!!

I appreciate the time that each and every one of you takes to read and/or comment! It truly means a lot to me! I really feel like the blogging community is very supportive!

Google Reader

I have a 7:30 lab on Mondays, which means that I’m waking up and eating breakfast at 6:00 am. I am usually STARVING by 10:00 am, so I split breakfast into parts:

6:00 am

Kashi Island Vanilla in Milk

8:00 am (during Lab)

Apple slices

9:30 am

Egg and toast

I just realized that only about 5% of the people who were subscribing to my original blog in Google Reader are actually still getting the feeds!

When I made the switch from blogger to WordPress, apparently I dropped a lot of people. 😦

Make sure that you update and add to your reader, or it will show that I haven’t posted in about a month! YIKES!

Last Lazy Day

**Make sure that you add to your reader to get my updates! 😀 **

Big Thanks to Zesty for helping me out with blog stuff. I kept getting redirected to the old blog… did anyone else have this problem?

I spent most of the morning not organizing my office like I said I would… but instead watched tv on the couch and worked on the blog. Oh well! This is my last of the “lazy days” until school starts… gaaaah!

I did actually get off the couch to make some lunch. I had this bag of Tofu Shirataki noodles in the fridge that needed to be used up.

The ingredients are: Tofu and Yam flour which sounds sort of odd. The entire bag only has 40 calories in it, which is probably why I’m already hungry as I’m typing this!

I stir-fried:

  • yellow bell pepper
  • red bell pepper
  • broccoli
  • carrots, diced
  • shrimp
  • the whole bag of noodles
  • teriyaki sauce

I topped with sesame seeds! It made for a beautiful lunch.

Don’t let the bowl size fool you, it was a big portion!

Back to the couch I go! Savoring the day…

I Thought I Would Love it…

Today has flown by! I spent most of the afternoon doing two of my favorite things- blogging and baking. 😀

I have to admit, switching to WordPress was not too easy, but it was definitely something I have been wanting to do! I think that there are more features on WordPress than blogger, and so I just dove right in.

I feel like doing things I think I can’t do makes me feel accomplished and independent. For instance:

It’s the little things!

This afternoon I made chocolate peanut butter chip cookies, per Jason’s request. I had a random bag of Reese’s PB chips stashed that were about to go bad, so I said what the heck. I totally ate three of them, and they were falling apart everywhere. I can’t resist a fresh out of the oven cookie! (or three).

Once Jason got home from work, we decided to head outside for some fresh air. We ran/walked 2.5 miles at a leisurely pace. We have this new rule for ourselves that that we only go on the computer from 9-10pm, that way we have the rest of the evening set aside to eat dinner together and talk. It’s working out beautifully! 😀

Before we left, I went ahead and pre-made dinner so that we could eat once we got home. I combined a bunch of veggies in the blender to make a cold soup:

In the mix:

  • 1 cucumber
  • 1/4 of each of green, yellow, red, orange bell peppers
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1/2 pint of grape tomatoes
  • 1 carrot
  • cayenne pepper
  • lime juice
  • garlic salt
  • cumin
  • 1 TBL olive oil

I stuck it in the fridge, and served it cold, topped with avocado and chickpeas. Also, on the side, a pita bread.

I was really surprised, that I didn’t like it at all! I felt like I was choking it down, which is no fun! I thought that I would love it, because I really liked when Meghann made a similar Gazpacho, but I only managed to eat about 1/3 of it before I threw it out.

I really hated wasting food, but I didn’t want to eat something  I disliked that much. I felt like it would have been better without the carrot ( I really don’t like carrots!) It’s funny to me, because just yesterday, Kelly and I were talking about what we would do if we hated our meals- like if we would blog that we ate a PB+J instead!

I resorted to eating a bowl of Kashi cereal and milk. Not bad, but not really “dinner” either.

Oh well! There’s always tomorrow 😀

Speaking of tomorrow… I have a 6 Mile run planned with two of my favorite ladies! 😉

Have you ever made something that you thought you would love and ended up hating it?

Goodbye Blogger, Hello WordPress!

I’ve officially made the switch!

If you are not already following me at please do so!

I will NO LONGER be publishing on blogger ( so please make sure you have my dot com on your reader, or you will not see any more of my posts. Wouldn’t that be tragic?

Hope you like it!
