Purple Oats

I actually slept in this morning until 7:30! Well… I woke up at 5, hugged Jason goodbye, and fell back asleep.

Once I was up, I had half a z-bar and headed to the gym for a speed workout. I’m not a huge treadmill fan, but it gets the job done when I need to be quick.

I ran 3.5 miles in about 31 minutes. I started at 6.0 for the first mile as a warm-up, and then jumped around ever 0.25 miles from 7.0 to 8.0, 6.5, 7.5… etc. for the rest of the workout. It felt great and I watched the news the whole time.

Once I got back, I was in a hurry. I have a dentist appointment in 20 minutes from now! I made oatmeal while I showered (benefit of microwaving!):


My oatmeal had:

  • 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 TBL flax
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup blackberries
  • sprinkle of walnuts!


Once I mixed it up, it turned purple!


It tasted perfect! Such a good combination of flavors!

I’m off to the dentist. I have to get a small cavity filled. I’m like SUPER nervous because I hate the dentist. Last time I cried the whole way home when I found out I had to come back for this.  😦

National Running Day and PB Oats

Good morning, lovelies! Did you know today is Inaugural National Running Day?

Pft… go figure I didn’t even run 🙂 If you live in the Orlando Area, check out Track Shack’s run tonight!


This morning I did my first strength routine in a long time and boy did it hurt feel great! 🙂

I warmed up with 20 minutes on the Elliptical Machine and then did:

  • 3 sets of 10 push-ups (I suck at these!!)
  • 3 sets of 10 “Three-Way-Shoulders” [10 lb weights]
  • 3 sets of 10 Biceps curls [12 lbs]
  • 3 sets of 20 Overhead triceps [12 lb-ouch]
  • 3 sets of 10 Hammer curls [10 lbs]
  • 3 sets of 10 Tricep Kickbacks [10 lbs]
  • 3 sets of 10 Bent-over Row [10 lbs]

This whole thing including the E.M. took under 45 minutes. I move quickly between the activities so that it minimizes gym time. (You could do all these exercises at home if you have a set of dumbells which actually use more than the crappy apt. gym!)

Breakfast was something new!! Like I mentioned, we have no fruit left with the exception of a banana (I’m saving for breakfast tomorrow- I crave bananas after I run).

My Peanut Butter Oatmeal!


  • 1/2 cup Oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup fat free milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 TBL Natural PB (no trans fat!)

This is the first time I have made this combo and I really liked it! If you add chocolate chips it might be a Reese’s PB cup breakfast!

A lot of people have been asking Questions about the move so I will try to clear it up: (if you have more feel free to ask!)

Q: Do you and Jason live together?

A: Yes. I understand that choice is not right for everyone and a lot of my old friends would judge me for this but that is their right.

Q: Where are you moving?

A: We are moving down the hall to a bigger apartment. We currently live in a one bedroom, one bathroom. The new apartment has two bedrooms (one will be an office) and a patio!!

Q: Why bother?

A: We are doing this because it is actually cheaper and has more space. If Jason gets transferred for his new job we will rent the extra room out so that it will help with rent.

Q: When is the move?

A:The move is next Friday, June 12. We are already getting ready for it because I start work next Monday and will be gone thru Thursday.
