Cookie Dough

Last night, I made a ridiculous amount of cookies. As in, this tupperware times two!

I ate about four cookies worth of dough until I had a tummy ache. It was so good and hard to resist! I can’t wait to get these cookies out of here!

As Lindsey said, “life is not complete without cookie dough!” 😉

 

I was up pretty late with my baking adventures, so I slept in. I hit the gym for a quick 20 minute elliptical session and some arm strength training moves.

It was the perfect excuse to catch up on my Runner’s World reading!

On my way out, I left an Operation Beautiful note on the bathroom mirror. I haven’t left one in a while!

After my strength session, I was craving protein! With our massive Sam’s club carton of eggs, I figured omelets were the perfect solution!

My omelet had:

  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 egg white
  • tons of spinach
  • tomato
  • onion
  • cheddar cheese

Purple Oats

I actually slept in this morning until 7:30! Well… I woke up at 5, hugged Jason goodbye, and fell back asleep.

Once I was up, I had half a z-bar and headed to the gym for a speed workout. I’m not a huge treadmill fan, but it gets the job done when I need to be quick.

I ran 3.5 miles in about 31 minutes. I started at 6.0 for the first mile as a warm-up, and then jumped around ever 0.25 miles from 7.0 to 8.0, 6.5, 7.5… etc. for the rest of the workout. It felt great and I watched the news the whole time.

Once I got back, I was in a hurry. I have a dentist appointment in 20 minutes from now! I made oatmeal while I showered (benefit of microwaving!):

My oatmeal had:

  • 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 TBL flax
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup blackberries
  • sprinkle of walnuts!

Once I mixed it up, it turned purple!

It tasted perfect! Such a good combination of flavors!

I’m off to the dentist. I have to get a small cavity filled. I’m like SUPER nervous because I hate the dentist. Last time I cried the whole way home when I found out I had to come back for this.  😦

3-Way Shoulders

I hope you are having a great afternoon!

Earlier in the week, I had some questions about “3 Way Shoulders” as part of my upper body strength training. I decided pictures would be better than words…

3-Way Shoulders is just 3 different moves repeated right after each other. I do each of these exercies 10 times before moving to the next one immediately. After each set, I rest for about a minute or so.

(sorry these pics aren’t the greatest, Jason was cracking me up and making me hold the weights out for a long time lol)… at least we found a use for the ugly white wall!!

Step 1:

a. Start with hands by your sides.

b. raise hands to 90 degree angle with your body, lower, repeat.

Step 2:

a. Start with arms perpendicular to your head… i guess?

b. Raise arms straight over your head, lower, repeat.

Step 3:

a. Squat down a bit, but make sure that your knees do not go in front of your toes (its kind of hard to see that here). Hold both weights in front of your body, with your arms at a 90 degree angle.

IMG_2678 b. Keeping that 90 degree angle, bring arms up almost to horizontal level, lower, repeat.

Hope you enjoyed a peak into my routine! I stole these moves from Debbie (my BFF). I have been using this (or a slight variety) for a while, but need to get back into it. After a few weeks I definitely notice more definition in my back/shoulders. It works wonders!!

National Running Day and PB Oats

Good morning, lovelies! Did you know today is Inaugural National Running Day?

This morning I did my first strength routine in a long time and boy did it hurt feel great! 🙂

I warmed up with 20 minutes on the Elliptical Machine and then did:

  • 3 sets of 10 push-ups (I suck at these!!)
  • 3 sets of 10 “Three-Way-Shoulders” [10 lb weights]
  • 3 sets of 10 Biceps curls [12 lbs]
  • 3 sets of 20 Overhead triceps [12 lb-ouch]
  • 3 sets of 10 Hammer curls [10 lbs]
  • 3 sets of 10 Tricep Kickbacks [10 lbs]
  • 3 sets of 10 Bent-over Row [10 lbs]

This whole thing including the E.M. took under 45 minutes. I move quickly between the activities so that it minimizes gym time. (You could do all these exercises at home if you have a set of dumbells which actually use more than the crappy apt. gym!)

Breakfast was something new!! Like I mentioned, we have no fruit left with the exception of a banana (I’m saving for breakfast tomorrow- I crave bananas after I run).

My Peanut Butter Oatmeal!

  • 1/2 cup Oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup fat free milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 TBL Natural PB (no trans fat!)

This is the first time I have made this combo and I really liked it! If you add chocolate chips it might be a Reese’s PB cup breakfast!

A lot of people have been asking Questions about the move so I will try to clear it up: (if you have more feel free to ask!)

Q: Do you and Jason live together?

A: Yes. I understand that choice is not right for everyone and a lot of my old friends would judge me for this but that is their right.

Q: Where are you moving?

A: We are moving down the hall to a bigger apartment. We currently live in a one bedroom, one bathroom. The new apartment has two bedrooms (one will be an office) and a patio!!

Q: Why bother?

A: We are doing this because it is actually cheaper and has more space. If Jason gets transferred for his new job we will rent the extra room out so that it will help with rent.

Q: When is the move?

A:The move is next Friday, June 12. We are already getting ready for it because I start work next Monday and will be gone thru Thursday.

I Got It From My Momma

What a day it has already been!! This morning mom and I woke up around 6:30 and decided to hit my apartment’s gym. My mom used to be a marathoner back in the day but doesn’t have the time anymore. I think I got my love for running/fitness from her! Usually going to the gym w/ mom is a treat because her side job is personal training so she always shares new moves with me!

We only had 45 minutes this morning because we had to take my boyfriend to the airport.
I ran on the T-mill and then did 15 mins of strength moves.

Today’s Run Stats:

  • Distance: 3.0 Miles (T-mill)
  • Time: 26:54
  • Pace: 8:57 min/mile (6.7mph) @ 1% Incline

Strength Training:

  • 3-Way Shoulders
  • 30 Push-ups
  • Bicep curls with 12lb Weights
  • Tricep Kickbacks

Nothing major but just enough to give my day a boost!

After we dropped Jason (my BF) off at the airport we hit up IKEA and had some fun… too much actually. These are the most non-embarrassing photos I could find:

Yep, I’m rocking the express shirt I got yesterday! We kept seeing this little thing around IKEA and called it “the ORB”. I think it was just like a pot or something but we were laughing about it’s potential uses.

I really want to get these lights but I need to find a way to hang them first! They are $4, $5, $6 for the respective sizes:


After weaving thru the maze of IKEA we headed to a local salad place called Designer Greens. It’s DELISH, healthy, and I highly recommend it!! You can create your own salads or choose from the ones they created. I chose the Summer Salad (notice how huge it is compared to that normal size fork- I devoured it!)


Ingredients:

  • mixed greens
  • Chicken (I added this to give it some “sticking power”)
  • about 1/3 gala apple
  • sliced strawberries
  • mandarin oranges
  • gorganzola cheese
  • pecans
  • poppyseed dressing on the side

I really want to try and re-create this salad at home since it is quite pricey to eat out but in case you want to check it out, Here’s a coupon!
