Girls Night Pants and Bridesmaids Dresses

The holiday weekend might not be over, but I sure feel like it is. I did more this weekend than I have done in several months.

My BFF Debbie left bright and early this morning, and I already miss her!

We get matching PJ pants every visit. It’s tradition!

Marathon PJ pants…

…and then on of course the original girls’ night pants, which are now a few years old.

Yesterday we had big plans to pick out and order the bridesmaids dresses for Debbie’s September wedding. Since I had a crowd of people in my apartment, I thought it would be fun to make breakfast for everyone!

I made my oatmeal pancakes from scratch, but doubled the recipe.

I didn’t have any fresh fruit, so Mark took some frozen berries out, heated them in the microwave and chopped them up. The turned out kind of “syrup-y” so it worked out pretty well!

It made for a delicious and filling breakfast! Perfect since we had an appointment to try on dresses straight through the normal lunch hour.

We all sat around on my floor and enjoyed our breakfast picnic style!

Once we got to the bridal shop, we tried on tons of dresses. Debbie had already made a list of the ones she wanted us to try on, so it actually went by really quickly!

You will have to wait and see which one she ended up choosing!

I love that Debbie is only about 1% Bride-zilla. Meaning, she is so easy going about everything, but can make decisions rather easily.

Debbie is going to be a beautiful bride!! 😀

I can’t wait to be a part of the wedding. 😀

We were in and out in about an hour or so! Debbie suggested we discuss the dress ideas over lunch. Moe’s sounded like the perfect place.

I ordered a Triple Lindy Junior (Burrito with rice, black beans, chicken, salsa, lettuce, and guacamole). I love all burrito places—I can’t choose a favorite!

I think I laughed more over lunch then I have in a long time! I don’t really even remember what was so funny, but we had a really great time.

Sometimes, I get so caught up in the future (what’s going to happen after graduation… will I get a job… etc.) that I forget to enjoy right now. I think I was reminded this weekend that while there are some things you need to plan ahead for (like ordering your bridesmaids dress for you BFF’s wedding), some things are just going to be unknown until it happens!

There is a time and place for everything. I won’t worry my life away!

It’s About Time!

After 7.5 years of dating (including all of college and most of high school) my two really good friends tied the knot!

The wedding was beautiful and filled with more love than I ever thought possible. I didn’t take pictures during the ceremony itself, but she looked insanely gorgeous. I love seeing my friends so happy!

As I arrived at the reception, I placed my gift to the couple at the already full table. It’s going to take forever to open all of these!

I also signed the guestbook/frame!

While we waited for the couple to arrive, I took a seat with some old friends.

Did I mention that my date to the wedding was my best friend from middle school, who was also my high school homecoming date? Eight years later, Tyler and I show up together.

The bridal party took forever to take pictures. Luckily, there was a candy bar for us to check out:

I munched on a few handfuls of m&m’s while chatting with other guests.

Once the couple was announced, it was time for their first dance as husband and wife. It’s amazing to see two people so in love that their joy literally fills a room. That’s Jaime and Matt for you.

Dinner was buffet style, and I was at one of the last tables to get food. They have HUGE families! I had a hodge-podge of everything.

When it was time to cut the cake, there was a big debate: To smash, or not to smash.

Matt is an engineer (like me!) and is very by the rules. He carefully tried to place the cake in her mouth but dropped it on her dress. Ooops.

Jaime is the silly one of the two and had planned all along to shove cake in his face.

The music started playing and everyone jumped up to the dance floor.

I hung back and took some pictures with my old high school gang. I miss these girls!

Next up it was time for the bouquet and garter toss!

Look who caught it!

Is this bad luck!?

We all headed outside to wish the couple farewell!

Bubbles were everywhere!

Congratulations, Jaime and Matt! May you be as happy forever as you were on your wedding day!

They are now on a plane to Hawaii! How awesome is that?!

After the wedding, I drove the two hours back to Orlando. During the drive, I thought to myself how blessed I am to have such awesome friends in my life!

Luau Rehearsal Dinner

It’s Wedding Season!

I came back to my hometown of Brandon, FL (a suburb of Tampa)  for the first time in 3 years this weekend. Pretty weird feeling to be back. I came back for my dear friends’ wedding.

Even though I am not a part of the bridal party, she invited me to come the rehearsal dinner since we have known each other since 6th grade.

This was taken  of us on the bus to summer camp around age 15. Hehehe. (I’m in the green shirt.)

I knew her (future) husband before she did — we were biology lab partners in 9th grade!!

Anyways, on to the party. The couple, Jaime and Matt, are surfers and total beach bums which I love about them. Their rehearsal dinner was more of a luau themed party.

While we waited for dinner to get started, I sipped on a strawberry tea lemonade.

I had a plate of BBQ for dinner…

…and a pineapple filled with sorbet for dessert. YUM!

Sorbet filled fruit is such a great idea!

I was at a table with all married couples… except for Kelli. We are the single ones left from the high school group. I like to think of myself as having high standards. 😉

The dinner was REALLY fun. My friend Lisa’s husband was doing all kinds of magic tricks for us…

I HAD to know how this was done.

I was unsure how my sunburn would look in a halter top dress. Plus, my hideous feet. No worries, I didn’t go totally unglamorously. I gave myself a pedi.

I wore my hair down to cover the brutal burn.

Who wants to see THIS?!?!

I also used some sunless tanner on my non-red skin to even out the color slightly. It worked pretty well! Everyone commented that I looked really tan. Yay for cancer free tanning.

The wedding is tonight! I am going to try to hit the gym, but I still need to go get a wedding present and run some other errands while in Tampa.

I feel completely clueless about all things wedding related. I guess it’s about time I start learning…I’m going to be a bridesmaid in Debbie’s wedding in a few months!

Half Way to the Wedding

Brielle and I made it to Tampa!

We are actually on half way to our stepbrother’s wedding. We stopped at my dad’s house in Tampa to see our family and have some lunch.

Our dad made a lunch buffet for us! He had all kinds of deli meat, cheese, soup, fruit, and chips.

I made a mini sandwich with ham and Swiss.

With fruit and garden veggie soup on the side. Lunch seems to be the only time I can eat anything, so I’m trying to eat alot!

My family is starting to pick up on healthy habits! I’m so proud.

We spent a couple of hours relaxing with the family pitching baseballs to Michael, and watching Lexie’s gymnastics, and now it’s time to get ready!

Lexie is DYING for me to show her back handspring on my little blog…

The wedding is on the beach so it’s pretty casual (as in.. no shoes!) I’m wearing this dress that I wore Easter 2008. It’s actually an old favorite I haven’t worn in quite a while!

Still hasn’t hit me. My Step-brother is getting MARRIED in three hours! OMG!!!!!!

It’s about time. We are off to the beach!
