Slam Buttons

I’m slowly becoming addicted to my beloved cup of Joe. I fumbled to the coffee machine and slammed the make me coffee, damn it ON button. Such a good decision to prep the night before.

I had to wake up at 4:45 am so that Jason could drop me off for my flight before work. Somehow I managed to get in five minutes of Whittle my middle before I thought I was going to die.

It took approximately 5 minutes to get through Jet Blue’s flight check in and security. I now have an hour to kill. What better way to spend it then with my bloggies? 😀

I only got around to drinking a few sips before being yelled at to get into the car. Once I got settled, I decided coffee round two was necessary.

I love the RED cup! 😀

I got a seasonal favorite of mine, Gingerbread latte! Well… sort of. The regular version has 2% milk, 3 pumps of syrup, and whipped fat cream.

MY Version has:

  • nonfat milk
  • 1 pump Gingerbread syrup
  • no whip

I still got all the flavor without having a 6:00 am sugar high. 😀

To quiet my loudly growling tummy, I also ordered the Perfect Oatmeal.

I mixed half of each packet into my Oatmeal:

  • Brown sugar
  • Dried fruit
  • Mixed nuts

I can’t believe I paid 2.79 for this thing. It was tasty, but I mean I can buy a 50 serving thing of oats for that price at Publix.

I’m going to attempt to get some work done before I board…

…oh wait, that’s not work, that’s Twitter!! (You can also follow my twitter updates on the right side of my blog)

I’ll be updating frequently, now that I can do so from my cell phone! 😀

Well, I’m off! See you on the flip side.

Don’t forget to pick me up,  Debbie!!! 😀

Five More Weeks

Happy Monday Morning!

It was tough waking up at 5:30 am this morning. I have been relaxing, lounging, sleeping in since Friday!

It was definitely a coffee kind of morning

I hit “snooze” a few too many times, and ended up grabbing a CLIF bar on the way out the door. By the way, I love all flavors.

By the time I got back from my first class (my second was cancelled, thank goodness!)… I was starving!

I made a green smoothie to hold me over until lunch.

It was the most basic of green smoothies ever:

  • Ice
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 banana
  • 1 TBL flax
  • 3 cups of spinach

With a little honey to sweeten up my Monday!

The next five weeks at a glance…

Even though I am obsessed with my g-calendar (Google Calendar) and have been faithfully relying on it for about three years now, I do LOVE to get things written out on this board:

I like crossing off the days, and having a general overview of when things are happening.

Some exciting things coming up in the next month or so:

  • November 18: I can run again!!
  • Nov 19-23: Going to visit BFF Debbie in New Jersey
  • Thanksgiving with my family in Tampa
  • Possible Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot
  • OUC Half Marathon (my third year running, sad Deb won’t be there, but still)
  • Senior Design project due! (Ummm… need to get started, STAT)

It’s time for me to buckle down and get some things done. I need to figure out a way to stay sane through all of this craziness!

Do you prefer to keep track of your days using an electronic calendar, like G-Calendar, or do you prefer to hand write it?

Abs and Eggs

Good morning!

For some reason, it feels like Sunday to me. I woke up a little before Jason and made some coffee. I’m really loving Starbucks’ Winter Blend lately!

Mini Workout

After coffee, I decided to get in an ab (or core) workout since I can’t do much else yet. I did a variation of my 10-minute ab routine, but went for 15 minutes instead. Ten minutes is great for time crunch, but I really wanted to do more!

My abs are BURNING! It’s been way too long since I’ve done a formal core workout of any sort.

Once Jason woke up, I made omelets for breakfast. Jason’s had ham and cheese…

I like mine oozing with veggies!

My omelet included:

  • 1 whole egg, 2 egg whites
  • tomato
  • spinach
  • 1/4 cup cheddar cheese

On the side, a slice of toast with a bit of butter.

Plus, a few strawberries for “dessert”.

A square meal, on a square plate.

I’m excited to get out of the house today! I haven’t been able to leave since my toe surgery, but I don’t need the strong pain killers anymore, meaning I can safely drive!

I can’t wait to meet the girls for a fun lunch! 😀

What are your weekend plans?

Things I’m Thankful For #2

Today, I am REALLY thankful for coffee.

Specifically, iced Lattes. 😀

I am also thankful that there is a Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts on every corner.

With three tests in 24 hours, and not enough sleep… COFFEE IS MY SAVIOR!

Meals on the Go

I had to say goodbye to my little sister this afternoon. 😦

Before we left for the airport, I made a Mexican themed lunch:

I had a cup of black bean soup

…and a salad.

My salad included:

  • romaine lettuce
  • green bell pepper
  • crumbled chips
  • Grilled chicken breast
  • cheese
  • salsa

On the way to test number two of the day, I ate a CLIF bar mini in the car. I almost brought a Pumpkin pie Kashi bar, but I have missed the Brownie! Jason always steals them, but this one was buried in the bar stash! 😀

I also stopped at D and D for some Latte love! 99 cents, can’t beat it!

I packed my dinner in a little Fresh n’ Fit container that I have actually had for a while, but never use. It comes with an ice pack, and individual compartments for snacks. In case anyone is wondering, I found it at Target.

In the main compartment I packed a turkey and cheese sandwich. The ice pack fits over the sandwich area, and rests on little “shelves” so it doesn’t squish the sandwich.

I filled the top two containers with fruits and veggies: one with carrots and peas, and one with strawberries.

Each of those fits into the groves on the ice pack…

…and closes with the lid!

It kept my food cold (for 6 hours) without having to pack the whole bulky lunch cooler! I really liked using it!

What do you use to carry around your meals or snacks when you’re on the go?

Edited to add: I’m currently nibbling on Mickey’s Ear… ok… putting down the rice krispie treat…

Five Tests, Three Days

The next three days are going to be chaotic. I apologize in advance if my posts seem scatterbrained.

My test schedule this week is:

  • Monday: Hydrology 2A Test
  • Monday: Concrete Design Test
  • Tuesday: Environmental Process Design Test
  • Wednesday: Hydrology 2B Test
  • Wednesday: Electrical Engineering Test

Hopefully by Thursday, I can sleep!

I have been putting studying on the backburner the past few days, between the Halloween party and Disney with my sister. I have some serious work to be done!

I woke up extra early to get some studying in before this morning’s test. It was so much easier with the time change!

However, coffee was still necessary:

As was a filling and nutritious breakfast:

I chopped up half an apple, sprinkled it with cinnamon, and added it to my oats half way through cooking.

My oats included:

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 apple with cinnamon
  • 1 TBL flax
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • walnuts

Walnuts (before chopping them up) look like little brains to me. Maybe they will help me on my tests!

I am starting a special blog series for the month of November, so check back around lunch time!

Very Productive Wednesday

I love it when I finish the day knowing I got everything accomplished that I needed to. Isn’t that the best feeling?

My sister and I started our errands pretty early this morning. We stopped at Dunkin donuts for some coffee. I forgot my camera, so I had to use hers. Her memory card isn’t compatible with my computer, so I had to take pictures of the camera. Sorry for the HORRIBLE quality!!

I discovered that small lattes (I ordered a nonfat, one pump vanilla) are only 99 cents at DD. I traded my one dollar bill for this amazing little drink. They taste better than Starbucks!! YUMM!

I asked the lady how the pumpkin munchkins tasted, and she generously let me try one for free! Two points for DD!!

Again, sorry for the photo.

After errands, it was time for school. I spent my entire afternoon in the lab working on my concrete design project.

I feel bad for having to drag my sister to the lab for 5 hours, but she was a trooper!  She worked on a playlist for Saturday’s Halloween Party.

My sister is such a ham.

I packed my lunch along, plate and all!

I made it in a rush this morning, so it was slightly boring.

My lunch included:

  • Turkey and Cheese sandwich
  • Apple Slices
  • carrot
  • snap peas

No worries, there were more fruits and veggies eaten not pictured on the plate…

…and around 4:00 pm an Endure Glo Bar. (Made by Angela, Given to me by Caitlin!)

Once I got home it was almost 6:00 pm. I needed to get my run in, but felt a little hungry so I made a banana with Almond butter for a snack.

I managed to get my run in, with the help of my sister!! She dragged my butt to the gym, and I managed to get in 4.0 miles in 35:45on the treadmill. It was fast, but felt easy!

This morning I was unsure about how running in the evening would be, and honestly I thought about skipping it. I’m so glad I did it.

Dinner was delicious!

I made a little bit of something for everyone:

My favorite part was the Salmon!!

Plus, a chocolate chip cookie for dessert…they are so good.

I need to continue this very productive day… I still have some things I need to get done!
