Green Eggs and [Easter] Ham

Did someone say there was no such thing as the Easter Bunny!?

Pft… I don’t know what she is talking about!

Easter is usually filled with lots of candy, chocolate, and other goodies, so I loaded up on a healthy breakfast before heading to Tampa.

I had a bowl of apples and cinnamon oatmeal, with a green egg from yesterday’s coloring adventures.

Look what the bunny brought!  A GIANT Reese’s Egg.

It just wouldn’t be Easter without Candy for breakfast. I had a little nibble. 🙂

Upon arriving to Tampa, I was greeted by my family.

Michael, my little brother, was bouncing off the walls after consuming copious amounts of refined sugar…

…My dad showed off his mad skills on the wii guitar…

…and Lexie was her usual silly self.

They make me laugh. I love them! 😀

Let’s not forget about Belle!!

Mark came along for the Easter celebration to meet my family. I’m really glad they got along, but what’s not to love?!

Seriously… I feel like if he can deal with this…

…he’s a keeper! 😀

It was such a gorgeous day outside. There was not a cloud in the sky and the weather was warm. We sat on the porch and munched on some snacks while everyone arrived.

Don’t be fooled. I ate this plate times five.

It’s always fun to see my family members. Most of my family lives in Tampa, and as I get closer to graduation, I can’t really imagine moving too far from them.

As it got closer to dinner time, I was getting annoying with the camera. I seriously think that my family thinks I’m trying to get a job as paparazzi. Sorry, guys!

I was just getting hungry… sheesh.

Dinner was fabulous! I always leave feeling absolutely stuffed to the brim. It’s worth it, though. I never deprive myself on Holidays, or ever really.

I had a little of everything. My stepmom is becoming quite a chef!

  • honey glazed ham
  • squash casserole (made my grandma!)
  • mashed potatoes and gravy
  • green beans with special seasoning
  • citrus salad
  • challah bread chunk

After dinner, it was time for the annual egg hunt!

The kids had a blast! I miss Easter egg hunting. It was always so much fun growing up.

By the way, Mark’s mirrors sunglasses make for some awesome photography!

After all the eggs were found, we came inside for some delicious dessert. I had a little bit of everything…

  • chocolate chip cookie
  • cheesecake/pecan brownie
  • devil’s food cheesecake (EPIC!)

I am really glad that I went home for Easter, it just wouldn’t be the same without my family.

I’m off to get ready for the week ahead! I actually have a little bit of free time tonight, which is so rare.  Enjoy your night!

Happy Easter!

Halloween Eve

Today was all about prepping for Halloween!

We are hosting a party tomorrow night, so I recruited the siblings (My sister, and JasoNerd’s brother) to help get things ready!

I made us a lovely lunch (only 2 hours after breakfast) of Halloween Shapes Macaroni and cheese.

I think the shapes tasted better because they were cute! We have a bat, a ghost, and a pumpkin:

I made two boxes, and split them equally between our three bowls… so I guess I ate 2/3 of a box!

Not too much later, I was starving yet again.

I munched on some grapes:

A CLIF Mojo bar:

And some chips with homemade guacamole (made for the party):

We then got to work baking cupcakes!

Brielle iced, Zach sprinkled…

…and I pretty much just licked the bowl! 😀

The finished product:

After all the work in the kitchen and cleaning the apartment, we were pooped. The four of us plopped onto the couch and watched The Orphan. Have you seen it? That movie was disturbing…

The group was begging for Chinese take-out and it sounded like a good idea not get up off the couch.

My plate:

  • Fried Rice
  • Veggie spring roll
  • piece of Jason’s chicken
  • Chicken with snowpeas

Obviously, I saved room for a chocolate cupcake. Zach did a great job with the sprinkles! So precisely placed…

Off to finish our Halloween costumes!! Jason’s makes me laugh. I can’t wait to show it to you!

What are you going to be for Halloween?

Allergic to Green?

Lunch today rocked.

I ate leftover Mellow Mushroom pizza!!  I cut the slices in half again so it was easier to eat, and also felt like I was eating more.

I contemplated having a salad on the side, but decided I didn’t really want it. I had plenty of veggies as toppings!!

It has:

  • bell pepper
  • broccoli
  • tomato
  • black olives
  • artichoke
  • tofu

My sister and I got a major chocolate chip cookie craving this afternoon. I think the ONLY thing we have in common besides our last name and parents is our dear affection for the classic Tollhouse cookie.

We made the full recipe (5 dozen cookies) but froze half the dough for future use. We used white and regular chocolate chips for something slightly different.

I’m a little embarrassed to admit how many I ate…

…but I think it was about 3 + a lick of dough! 😀

Jason brought home stir-fry ingredients for dinner!

I was supposed to go to class at 6:00, but the idea of a warm dinner instead of something rushed and cold sounded AWESOME! I skipped and only went to my 7:30… oops!

Jason did most of the cooking. He cooked chicken and shrimp, and I just chopped the veggies:

  • carrot
  • bell pepper
  • broccoli
  • snap peas
  • bean sprouts

We had thai peanut noodles on the side (x 2… I was hungry tonight!)

I’m surprised that even Brielle liked it!!

My sister told me tonight that she is allergic to green food. Her plate looks SO different than mine:

Her plate looks so boring!! I wanted to sneak a pea on there or something.

Some people think we look alike, but we are complete opposites.

It’s weird though, we are like two peas in a pod… oh wait, she might not like that example since she hates peas. Hmph. I LOVE THEM!

Off to watch TV!

All You Need Is Love

Congratulations, Frankie and Jen!

Brielle and I drove another couple hours south to Bradenton Beach, FL for my stepbrother’s wedding. He’s been dating Jen for 8 years now, it’s about time they “tied the knot!”

We played like the paparazzi…

…blared the music in the car…

…and stopped at Starbucks for a pick-me-up.

When we arrived, it was slightly chilly! I LOVE it!

The beach was a perfect setting for the wedding. My S-Bro and Jen are very chill people, and love the beach/water/all things Florida.

I loved that we didn’t even have to wear shoes!

The ceremony made everyone tear up a little bit.

Jen looked more beautiful then I have ever seen her!  I love her!

Since Jen is Korean, they actually held a second Korean ceremony which was really neat to see.

The family members threw dates and nuts for the bride to catch with her dress to “bless” the family. Something to that effect…

There were about 100 friends and family members there to celebrate with. It was awesome catching up with everyone!

After the ceremony, we headed over to our tables. Each was labeled with a different fish name, such as Wahoo, Catfish, Grouper, etc.

Then came the food! We started with appetizers…

…my favorite was the large tropical fruit tree.

My plate:

…plus a margarita, which I only had a sip of.

Family photo time…

…random surfers…

I took SO many pictures, it’s ridiculous.

My favorite picture of the night…

Yay, love. 😀

It was then time for the par-tay! We started out with a lovely meal. I had a nibble of grouper, tropical salsa chicken, green beans, and salad. Delicious!

Next up, wedding cupcakes!

They sliced a cupcake in half to feed each other. Kind of awkward… LOL.

I loved the idea of cupcakes! I’m obsessed with cupcakes for some reason. I think they taste better than cake. This particular one was vanilla, with vanilla bean icing, and strawberry filling. YUMM!

It was then time to dance!

Brielle, Stepdad Frank, Me…

This was the most fun I have EVER had at a wedding. It was relaxed, everyone was having a wonderful time, and celebrating love. I hope that if I ever get married that my wedding will be this fun!

I’m not even going to try to explain how all these people are related to each other, because sometimes even I get confused! My step brother is not exactly even my step brother any more (mom and stepdad got divorced, but we were step-siblings from age 6-18) but these people are truly my family. I love them so much, and am so happy to have them in my life! We are the most random combo of people, but I wouldn’t change it for the world! Blended families are a blessing!

Congrats, again, Frankie and Jen! I wish you the best!!! 😀

PS.I almost waited until morning to write this (as it’s after 1:00 am) but it was too exciting to wait!!!! And it’s cold, I’m loving being bundled up 😀

Half Way to the Wedding

Brielle and I made it to Tampa!

We are actually on half way to our stepbrother’s wedding. We stopped at my dad’s house in Tampa to see our family and have some lunch.

Our dad made a lunch buffet for us! He had all kinds of deli meat, cheese, soup, fruit, and chips.

I made a mini sandwich with ham and Swiss.

With fruit and garden veggie soup on the side. Lunch seems to be the only time I can eat anything, so I’m trying to eat alot!

My family is starting to pick up on healthy habits! I’m so proud.

We spent a couple of hours relaxing with the family pitching baseballs to Michael, and watching Lexie’s gymnastics, and now it’s time to get ready!

Lexie is DYING for me to show her back handspring on my little blog…

The wedding is on the beach so it’s pretty casual (as in.. no shoes!) I’m wearing this dress that I wore Easter 2008. It’s actually an old favorite I haven’t worn in quite a while!

Still hasn’t hit me. My Step-brother is getting MARRIED in three hours! OMG!!!!!!

It’s about time. We are off to the beach!
