Break It Up

It’s the middle of the week. I can’t really say that I’m looking forward to the weekend… I have TONS of hw to do, and Saturday class. Wednesday’s ‘looking good for me! 😀

BFF Debbie and I met for a run this morning, as usual. To spice it up, we decided to do an interval workout. It went like this:

  • 1.0 mile warm up (10:00 pace)
  • 0.5 mile faster (just under 9:00 min/mile pace)
  • 0.25 mile jog (9:30-10:00 pace)
  • 0.5 mile faster
  • 0.25 mile jog
  • 0.5 mile faster
  • 0.25 mile jog
  • 0.5 mile faster
  • 0.25 mile jog
  • 1.25 mile cool down

Total Distance: 5.25 miles

Total Time: 50 minutes

I set my Garmin to this workout last night, so I didn’t even have to think about it this morning. This workout flew by, because we were always thinking, “Only 1/4 mile left!”

Intervals are sooo wonderful…

…as is breakfast!

When I got home, I made a quick breakfast bowl:

  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate granola + a bit more 😀
  • raspberries
  • banana

I think intervals can be used for any sport/exercise to make it go by faster! Have you tried interval training before?
